What THIRD grade is learning in the library:

• Alphabetizing skills
• Dictionary Skills
• Improving skills on the mac ibook computer laptops: i.e. using a touch/click mouse, word processessing, website browsing, and portaportal.
• How to use the Alameda library catalog.
• Book location skills.
• Introduction to Google Applications: Drive, Classroom, Docs and Slides.

Using technology as a basis of their library assignments and book locating has been a new experience for our third graders. They are slowly improving on the above skills and will have many more opportunities to have hands on practice in the media center.

For purposes of literature promotion, I read high interest books such as fairy tales, multicultural legends, historical fiction, holidays and tall tales.
